The Organic Truth: What's in Your Cleanser?

Updated: Nov 9, 2019

Are the ingredients in your skincare products Organic?

A popular trend in the beauty industry these days is centered around the word: Organic. As you have probably noticed, we live in a society where Healthy Living Activists (HLA) work tirelessly to educate us on becoming more conscious of what we use and consume. They throw around terms like GMO’s, BPA, and Parabans just to name a few.

GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms) allow farmers to change the original formula of the plant. For example, seedless watermelons and soy are genetically modified.

BPA is related to the plastic used to package our food and drinks. We mostly hear BPA when activists talk about water bottles and heat.

Parabens are used as a preservative which gives products a longer shelf-life. There are most commonly found in skincare and cosmetics.

The HLA seeks to educate us to make better choices around what we consume and use in an attempt to help prolong our lives... as well as prevent diseases that stem from these and other (negative environmental) terms and acronyms.

Therefore, the word “Organic” has become more popular and some think the word—Organic, means natural, whole, complete, or even fundamental.

Now…while we are conscious about what we put in our bodies, let's be equally concerned about what we put on top of our bodies, especially our faces. When we are selecting the products to apply to our skin, we want to select carefully. Did you know, our skin is our largest organ?

How to determine if the products you are using are actually Organic

If a product is actually organic, it should have the USDA ORGANIC seal of approval on it. If it does not have that seal of approval, then by law, in order to market something Organic, the manufactures simply have to put the word “Organic” somewhere in/on the product.

However, the Organic symbol lets you know that the makers of the products:

*Followed the protocol.

*Took time to process the products appropriately.

*Went through the full governmental inspection.

Therefore, the ingredients will do what they say they will do and they are Organic.

Now, since you and your skincare choices are important to me, I desire for you to have the absolute best products. My skincare lines are actually made with Organic ingredients and I stand 100% behind my products.

I personally advocate that you use Organic products when dealing with sensitive skin and when dealing with skin concerns such as Rosacea and Eczema.

From now on, whenever you enter Esthetics by P Brown Day Spa and see the word Organic, please remember how much quality and care has been added to our products as a sign of how much we care about the health of your skin.
