I became a real estate agent because I wanted to be able to help my clients problem-solve as they elevate within their goals. Many of you in the tribe would like to either own investment properties, or buy or sell a home, so I chose to become a part of the solution. I say that to say, as I discuss the hidden secrets they left out about becoming a licensed real estate agent, know that every step of the financial investment, I’m paying with a positive mindset that as I invest in all of these resources – it is so I can provide the best solutions for my tribe. Tribe… we’re about to do some great things together.


Now, let’s talk about the well-kept secrets. Becoming a real estate agent is not for the broke. You need the capital to make it a lucrative investment! Let’s just say, the way real estate was marketed to me, sounded like a really good business. My dad says, if something sounds too good to be true – know that it is. I was under the assumption that I would only pay $350 for the course, $75 to take the state licensing exam, pay my broker, pay association fees ($500), and be done. Not so!


The Professional Real Estate Fees


They said my association fees would be $500, mine was $780 because there’s a one-time fee of $200, my brokerage fees were supposed to be $380/year, and mine was $1082 this year because as a new agent I have to pay a one-time $500 fee. You may be saying, Porsche, how many one-time fees are there? Every step of the way, there’s a New Agent fee that’s over $100.


Realtracs which is my MLS is only $42/month, but there’s a one-time fee of $280 as a New Agent. Once I’m in Realtracs I can schedule a showing, but I can’t go on the visit because I need the Century Keylock Passcode to to get in. It’s a one-time fee of $185 for the Century Key Lock passcode.


Are you calculating with me? I’m at $2794 which includes the course at $350 and $75 to take the state licensing exam. I still had 3 more classes and fees to pay. However, in the last two months, I’ve had 2 successful sales, one of which I was able to get my client a 200% increase over what she originally paid for her home and then helped her make some lucrative investments with the money so she can continue to live her best life debt-free.
