Health Benefit Tip: Drink Tea

If you wonder why some cultures drink so much of this beverage, it could be because of the Health Benefits.
Most of you know I grew up in the south and what drink is the south known for? Sweet Tea and Fruit Tea… but when I’m trying to focus or wind down, I will quickly steep a cup of hot tea.
Many people prefer bagged tea, and while I drink both, my preference is loose tea. With loose tea, I can add additional herbs and fruit to make my own custom blend. Sometimes I add sweetener, like a little honey, but most times I drink it without sweetener, because I buy the organic herbs that release a better flavor when brewed.
There are so many benefits to tea, in general. Some are caffeinated, but with much less caffeine than coffee. All listed below are loaded with antioxidants and have cardiovascular benefits. These are just a few of the many different types:

Green tea (caffeinated) is said to have the most health benefits and aids in: weight loss, cellular protection, cancer prevention, inflammation and free radical reduction in the body.
Black tea (caffeinated) – may help lower cholesterol, may help reduce blood pressure.
White tea (caffeinated) – helps improve skin and oral health, weight loss and has antibacterial properties that help with preventing infection causing bacteria in the body.
Oolong tea (caffeinated) – helps with focus, weight loss, immune system, helps prevent cancer, and helps prevent osteoporosis.
Rooibos tea (caffeine free) – may help people with diabetes keep blood sugar levels low, aids with weight loss and may help reduce wrinkles.

Herbal tea (caffeine-free) – great for hydration and loaded with health benefits, yet herbal teas are different, because they contain any combination of herbs. Herbal tea may include flowers, spices, roots, and plants. At Esthetics by P Brown Day Spa we custom blend herbal tea to meet your needs.
All of these teas have tons of health benefits, whether you enjoy them hot or cold. Hot tea soothes sour throats, helps with digestion, helps calm our nerves and brings us to a state of peace and serenity.
All of the herbs we use at Esthetics by P Brown are organic. At your next visit, ask us about our custom blends and we’ll brew some, just for you.
